Monica Birdi
ADHD Assessor
I’m Monica, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience working with children, young people, and families. I specialise in neurodevelopmental assessment, including autism and ADHD, and much of my career has been spent within CAMHS, where I have led and delivered complex assessments and worked closely with families to understand children’s needs in the context of their everyday lives.
If you’re considering an autism or ADHD assessment, I understand that this can feel like a big and sometimes emotional step. My approach is warm, thoughtful, and compassionate. I take time to really get to know your child or young person — their strengths, their challenges, and what matters most to them and to you as a family.
Alongside assessment expertise, I have additional therapeutic training in AMBIT (a team-based, attachment-focused approach that supports careful thinking, listening, and understanding within complex systems), Theraplay, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), as well as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This training shapes how I listen, how I ask questions, and how I work with children and families — helping create a calm, respectful space where people feel heard, understood, and supported.
A core value of my work is making sure that assessment feels genuinely helpful. I place strong emphasis on clear feedback, meaningful recommendations, and practical strategies that support what happens next — at home, in school, and in daily life. I’m often described as calm, kind, and reassuring, and I aim to create a space where families feel listened to and understood. As a mum to twins, I bring an added depth of empathy and real-world understanding, alongside my professional expertise, to help families move forward with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
