NEURODIVERSITY AND BURNOUT RESIDENTIAL

Burnout affects many neurodivergent individuals in profound ways. When the pressures of masking, sensory overload, chronic stress, and unmet needs build over time, the result can be deep exhaustion that impacts every part of life.

At Montrose Health Group, our Neurodiversity and Burnout Residential programme offers a calm, supportive environment where individuals can step away from daily demands and focus fully on recovery.

This residential experience is designed specifically for neurodivergent people experiencing burnout, overwhelm, or functional shutdown.

UNDERSTANDING NEURODIVERGENT BURNOUT

Neurodivergent burnout is more than feeling tired or stressed. It can involve:

  • Extreme mental and physical exhaustion

  • Loss of skills or reduced functioning

  • Increased sensory sensitivity

  • Difficulty with everyday tasks

  • Emotional overwhelm or shutdown

  • Withdrawal from work, education, or relationships

Many individuals reach burnout after years of pushing themselves to meet expectations that don’t align with how their brains work.

Our programme recognises that recovery requires rest, understanding, and the right support.

NEURODIVERSE FRIENDLY

Our residential setting provides a structured yet flexible environment that respects individual sensory and cognitive needs.

During your stay, you may receive support through:

  • Neurodiversity-affirming therapy

  • Burnout recovery planning

  • Sensory regulation strategies

  • Occupational therapy approaches

  • Gentle daily structure and pacing

  • Psychoeducation about neurodivergence and energy management

  • Support with unmasking and self-understanding

We prioritise low-demand environments, clear communication, and autonomy so individuals can recover at their own pace.

WHO IS THE RESIDENTIAL DESIGNED FOR?

The Neurodiversity and Burnout Residential programme may be suitable for adults who:

  • Identify as neurodivergent (including autistic, ADHD, or other neurodivergent profiles)

  • Are experiencing severe burnout or functional shutdown

  • Feel overwhelmed by daily responsibilities

  • Need time away from work, study, or caregiving

  • Would benefit from structured therapeutic support in a calm residential setting

A clinical assessment helps ensure the programme is appropriate for each individual.

WHAT MAKES OUR APPROACH DIFFERENT?

At Montrose Health Group, we take a neurodiversity-affirming approach. This means we recognise neurological differences as natural variations of human cognition rather than problems to be fixed.

Our focus is on:

  • Supporting wellbeing rather than forcing conformity

  • Reducing environmental and social stressors

  • Helping individuals understand their energy limits

  • Building sustainable strategies for life after burnout

Recovery is not about “pushing through” — it’s about rebuilding capacity safely and sustainably.
