Contract

Full Time and remote / clinic based 37.5 hours

 

Role Purpose

To undertake high-quality, evidence-based ADHD assessments for children aged 7+, young people, and adults, contributing to accurate diagnosis, robust clinical formulation, and MDT decision-making in line with NICE NG87, DSM-5 / ICD-11, and CQC standards. To produce accurate reports in line with service requirements. 

 

Key Responsibilities

ADHD Assessment & Formulation

• Conduct comprehensive ADHD assessments across the lifespan

• Take detailed developmental, educational, occupational, and psychosocial histories

• Use validated tools including:

o Conners (parent/teacher/self)

o SNAP-IV

o DIVA-5 (adults)

• Analyse multi-informant data and clinical observations

• Formulate clear diagnostic conclusions using DSM-5 / ICD-11

• Consider and document differential diagnoses including:

o Autism Spectrum Condition

o Anxiety and mood disorders

o Trauma

o Learning difficulties

o Attachment and emotional regulation difficulties

 

MDT & Diagnostic Governance

• Present cases at ADHD diagnostic MDT meetings

• Contribute to consultant-led diagnostic decisions

• Escalate complex presentations appropriately

• Support quality assurance and audit processes

• Attend team meetings where needed

 

Reporting & Feedback

• Produce high-quality diagnostic reports suitable for:

o Clients and families

o GPs

o Schools / colleges

o Local authorities

• Deliver feedback sessions to parents/carers and adults

• Produce child-friendly summary letters where required

• Ensure reports meet NHS and Right to Choose standards

• Collect feedback through Doctify or similar 

 

Safeguarding & Professional Practice

• Identify safeguarding concerns and follow local safeguarding procedures

• Complete risk assessments where indicated

• Maintain accurate, timely clinical records

• Work within consent, Gillick competence, and Mental Capacity Act frameworks

• Participate in:

o Supervision

o CPD

o Service development and governance activity

o MAST (Mandatory and Statutory Training)

Essential Criteria

• Doctorate or equivalent qualification in:

o Clinical Psychology

o Educational Psychology

o Practitioner Psychology

• HCPC registration

• Formal training and experience in ADHD assessment. 

• Strong knowledge of:

o NICE NG87

o DSM-5 / ICD-11

• Experience assessing children and/or adults

• Excellent formulation and report-writing skills

• Minimum of 1 year experience of diagnostic and report writing in a health setting. 

 

Desirable

• Experience with Right to Choose ADHD pathways

• Experience assessing ADHD and Autism together

• ADOS training/experience

• Experience working in NHS or CQC-registered services

• Trauma-informed practice
