Dedicated Recovery for Neurodevelopmental Burnout
The UK's first residential burnout retreat dedicated to recovery from ADHD and Autism burnout.

Montrose Health Group is proud to be the first provider in the UK to offer a residential clinical programme specifically designed for adults experiencing neurodevelopmental burnout.
Built for individuals aged 18 and over, our residential programme brings together leading specialists in ADHD and Autism to deliver a compassionate, neuroaffirming path to recovery. Combining psychiatry, psychology, and evidence-based therapeutic support in a space designed for you to rest, understand yourself, and rebuild, set in the idyllic Peak District.

What is Neurodevelopmental Burnout?
Neurodevelopmental burnout is a state of profound physical, emotional, and cognitive exhaustion experienced by many autistic and ADHD adults.
Burnout is often the result of prolonged masking, sensory overload, and the cumulative cost of navigating a world not built with neurodivergent minds in mind.
Signs of Burnout
Both ADHD and Autistic Burnout can look like shutdowns, loss of previously held skills, chronic fatigue, heightened sensory sensitivity, emotional dysregulation, or a sense of no longer recognising yourself.
Many individuals reach burnout after years of pushing themselves to meet expectations that don’t align with how their brains work.
Burnout often arrives after years of undiagnosed or unsupported neurodivergence — and conventional burnout or mental health services are rarely equipped to address its root causes.
At Montrose, we start from a different premise: burnout in neurodivergent adults isn't a personal failing to be fixed, but a signal to be understood. Our burnout therapy is built around that understanding.
A neuroaffirming approach, from the ground up
Every element of our programme — from the physical environment to the clinical model — is designed around neuroaffirming principles. That means:
- No pressure to mask or perform
- Sensory-considerate spaces and flexible routines
- Care built around your communication style and pace, not a fixed protocol
- Clinicians with genuine specialism in adult ADHD and Autism, not generalist burnout or mental health services
- A focus on self-understanding and sustainable strategies, not symptom suppression
Your personalised programme
No two guests arrive at Montrose with the same history, and no two leave with the same plan. Every retreat begins with in-depth assessment and is shaped around what your body and brain need — combining clinical rigour with genuine warmth.

How long does recovery take?
Burnout recovery is unique to each person and their situation. Depending on how long you’ve been suffering from burnout, how you respond to treatment and how severe your burnout is, your recovery can take anything from a few weeks to several years.
Our residential rehab is designed as a jump start to this recovery. Each programme is tailored to the individual and typically lasts for 4 weeks, but can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months, depending on clinic recommendations.
What you'll leave with
Our residential care isn’t designed to be a pause from your life —it’s designed to change how you meet it. Guests leave with:
- A clear, personal understanding of their neurodevelopmental profile and burnout drivers
- Practical, individualised strategies for daily life, work, and relationships
- An ongoing care and medication plan, where appropriate
- Tools for recognising and preventing burnout in future
- Connection to a care team who understands their history and can support them beyond their stay
Who this programme is for
Our burnout residential programme is designed for adults (18+) who are:
- Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or exploring a possible diagnosis, and experiencing burnout
- Seeking a higher level of clinical support than outpatient services can offer
- Looking for genuinely neuroaffirming care from specialists — not a generic wellness retreat
- Ready for a structured, private, residential period of assessment and recovery

Previous Experiences
“I honestly cannot thank the team enough. My partner and I needed lots of support, and they were there 24/7. My partner was the person staying in residential with Montrose. But I felt included and supported also. They see the bigger picture and go above and beyond. It has been a life changing process for both of us.”
“My team was amazing, caring and was very empathetic. Stewart was always at hand. Izaak was truly the person for the job. It was hard work but I would recommend Montrose to anyone who is seeking for help with their mental health. Ice baths was a challenge but I can really see the benefits it gave me along side the yoga and meditation.”
