RIGHT TO CHOOSE

At Montrose Health Group, we understand that waiting for specialist mental health support can be frustrating. The NHS “Right to Choose” pathway gives you more control over your care by allowing you to select an alternative provider for your assessment and treatment.

WHAT IS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE?

Under NHS England guidelines, patients have the legal right to choose where they are referred for certain services, including mental health assessments. This means that instead of being placed on a long local waiting list, you can request a referral to an approved provider with shorter waiting times.

HOW TO BE REFERRED FOR YOUR ADHD OR AUTISM ASSESSMENT?

MAKE A GP APPOINTMENT AND ASK TO BE REFERRED

Your GP will discuss your experiences with you, covering your developmental history, current concerns, and how these affect various aspects of your life.

If your GP agrees that an assessment is appropriate, request a referral to Montrose Health Group through the Right to Choose pathway on the Electronic Referral System.

For children's referrals please provide your child's school contact name and email address as this will speed up the referral process.

YOUR REFERRAL IS COMPLETE BY GP

The GP will make an electronic referral to us. We cannot take direct patient referrals, nor emails from practices. We can only accept through Electronic Referral System. Please find us under the Directory of Services.

Adult Referrals found under Learning Disabilities

Child Referrals found under Mental Health (not specified)

YOU WILL BE ADDED TO OUR WAIT LIST AND SEEN ACCORDINGLY

You will receive a questionnaire by email. Please complete this and return as soon a possible.

If you decide to go elsewhere please let us know.

Please note: We cannot confirm your waitlist position nor can we expedite your referral.

If you are already on a wait list for RTC we cannot accept your referral.

If you have a private assessment from another provider you will have to go though a full RTC assessment or a partial review paid privately.

We are not a crisis service and are unable to offer emergency appointments. Please consult your GP or A&E for immediate help.
